What Books Made An Impact On You?

The ability to sit still in the present moment, to quiet your mind, and to be a simple observer of the world around you without thinking or judging is not easy. There is a tendency to want to fill these gaps because they can sometimes feel uncomfortable and, no surprise, it’s hard to do with so many distracting things out there. This has especially been a challenge for me because my brain naturally wants to analyze everything. A book called “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle was a game changer for me. The book not only helped me to identify the causes and triggers of overthinking, over analyzing, and worrying, but more importantly, it introduced a more productive way to process information and navigate the world. I had to read this book three times before the concepts fully took root, but eventually I was able to clear my head and benefit from what having a more relaxed mind now could offer. I highly recommend it.

I have always loved reading—being able to see through the eyes of someone telling a story, challenging my own beliefs, and learning new things. Asking me to pick one book that has made a significant impact feels like an impossible request, but… if I HAD to choose just one, I would say “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking” by Susan Cain. I recommend this book to every introvert I meet because it completely reshaped the way I view personality, leadership, and success. Being an introvert was always something I was embarrassed of, but this book does a great job highlighting the strengths that introverts bring to the table—deep thinking, creativity, and the ability to listen—qualities that are often overlooked in a world that rewards loudness. This book helped me embrace my own introverted tendencies and recognize them as an asset rather than something to “fix.”
